In multi-day workshops (from 3-6 days) we bring together a group of people and use Theatre for Living games and exercises to explore a topic of interest. Based on this exploration, we develop short plays for audience-interactive theatre performances to engage the broader community in creative dialogue.

Using the art form of theatre to examine in depth the thorny problems youth encounter with substance use and other real life issues is an effective and engaging tool to reach the hearts and minds of community members.

Excellent presentation and fantastic exercise. It was a very engaging, thought- provoking, fun and unique way to collaborate. The theatre presentation was a novel way of encouraging concrete ideas for engagement-well done!

It has been such a joy to work alongside River! River led theatre workshops in our children’s summer camps and a workshop exploring the theme Becoming for youth and young adult participants. Drawing from their experience as a Theatre for Living facilitator, River beautifully weaves together games and exercises that are fun, build community, and draw out insights, reflections, and embodied knowledge from participants through creative expression and play. Through River’s process and facilitation, our youth opened up and expressed themselves in a way I hadn’t seen before. From the planning stages to the workshop day, I admired River’s
thoughtfulness, adaptability and collaborative energy and approach.
